Some of them seem compelled by their religious beliefs:
...while others are either misinformed...
...or kidding, I hope...
...and while I suspect some of them are drunk...
...it seems that most of them are just angry at random, looking for someone to hate...
...or someone to hurt...
In any case, I have yet to see a single self-proclaimed Teabagger who isn't either mentally disabled or deliberately ignorant of truth.
